Pancasila for international peace. Thus the concept of Pañcasila has played an important role in the history of human civilization, modern as well as ancient.
The term Pañcasila originally belongs to Buddhism but it is retained in some way or the other in different systems of Indian thought also. This doctrine of Pancasila is the pivot of Indian ethics and religions. In Jainism these Pancasilas are accepted in the form of five Mahāvratas and in Hinduism they are known as five Yamas.
When I came to know from Pt. Dalsukhbhai Malvania that Dr. (Miss) Kamala Jain of Delhi had written a thesis on this important topic of Pancasila I approached her and got the manuscript for publication. I am very much indebted to her for this kindness.
I must express my gratitude to Mr. Kranti Kumar Jain and some others for offiring a grant for this publication, without which the publication of this work would not have been possible.
