Then, some heretics maintain in 1.10.81 that beings perform two kriyas at the same time, i.e., iryapatha and samparayika, to which MV retorts that they can perform one kriya at a time. We shall assign all these texts in the fourth-fifth canonical stages. VII.1.261 reads that a layman who observes samayika while staying at monks' upasraya performs samparayika kriya, which, from the usage of upasraya, must belong to the final canonical stage (cf. D-2c).
