"महावीरने भारतमें ऐसा संदेश फैलाया-कि धर्म केवल सामाजिक रूढि नहीं किन्तु वास्तविक सत्य है । मोक्ष वाहिरी क्रियाकांडके (ही) पालनसे नहीं किन्तु सत्यधर्मका आश्रय लेनेसे मिलता है । धर्ममें मनुष्य मनुष्यके प्रति कोई स्थायी भेदभाव नहीं रह सकता । कहते हुए आश्चर्य होता है कि महावीरकी इस शिक्षाने समाजके हृदयमें जड जमा कर बैठी हुई इस भेद-भावनाको बहुत शीघ्र नष्टकर दिया और सारे देशको अपने वश कर लिया । और अब इस क्षत्रिय उपदेशकके प्रभावने ब्राह्मणोंकी सत्ताको पूर्णरूपसे . दवा दिया है"।
फिर देखिये लोकमान्य श्रीयुत् वाल गंगाधर तिलक लिखते हैं कि___"अहिंसा परमो धर्मः" इस उदार सिद्धान्तने ब्राह्मणधर्मपर चिरमणीय छाप (मोहर) मारी है। यज्ञ यागादिमें पशुओंका वध होकर जो यज्ञार्थ 'पशुहिंसा' आजकल नहीं होती है जैनधर्मने यही एक वडीभारी छाप ब्राह्मणधर्मपर मारी है
