________________ Jain Meditation imperative and necessary for you to do. In this way the second enemy, which is greed, is destroyed. Then comes the third enemy, or weakness, which is the ego. We want to be superior to others. Meditation tells us: What is the connection between you and others? You are born at a different time, in a different place, and with different DNA. You have nothing to do with them. So why are you competing with others? It is your ignorance. You are competing with your own ignorance. Be what you are. And allow them to be what they are. So there is equality of all living beings. That is why in Jainism there is no caste system, no creed system. There is no question of man or woman-who is superior. Anybody can get moksha, anyone can get salvation. L.M.: Be they a monk or a householder? S.C.: Yes, anybody. L.M.: There are no restrictions. S.C.: No. L.M.: Nobody has the inside track. S.C.: You can be a sannyasi, you can be a sadhu; you can be a father, you can be a priest. But it is not that you have only to be that. So the third idea is to conquer or destroy this negative idea of ego. The fourth is deceit. We see people who always camouflage whether they like somebody or not. When they meet you, they say: Oh, I'm glad to see you after a long time. But they think something else: Oh my God, why have I met him or her? So we are always playing, making a camouflage, or deceit. We are not honest with ourselves or others. Slowly, slowly, human beings have become a split personality; in this way, deceit creates a split personality. Thus, if one is not integrated within oneself, then one cannot achieve the goalwhat he was meant to achieve. In order to achieve a goal, our purpose in life, one should be completely integrated. L.M.: You can say one-pointed in a sense. Jain Education International 120 For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
