Sometime passed; and then the body of the elephant began to move. The elephant moved and shook its legs. The king was standing still and motionless. There appeared on his face a wave of happiness. The elephant moved its trunk and step by step, it opened its eyes. THE STAIN IS REMOVED The people shouted with joy applauding Mahamantri Pethad Shah's greatness. Chatura, the attendant began to dance. The elephant slowly stood up. The king's anger against Pethad Shah disappeared. He, at once sent for the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister came to the king. The king admired and praised Pethad Shah's austere celibacy, and requested him to be seated by his side on the elephant. The Chief Minister did not sit on the elephant.
