The President said that he trusted that his remarks would be carefully considered by the Jaina community and that they would make progress socially and morally every year, If they forgot the objects and aims of the conference from their minds as soon as the present proceedings had ended, the vaste expenditure incurred in connection with the conference: would be quite useless. The President congratulated several Jaina sanghas npon doing a practical good work during the past year. After the conclusion of the speech by the president the Subject Committee was appointed. & several influential speakers addressed the assembly on various topics. One of the most important speech made in the conference was that of our esteemed citizen Sheth Lalbhai Dalpatbhai who boldly advocated foreign travels. His speech elicited much applause. After passing a number of useful Resolutions the conference was. dissolved.
It is, a gratifying sign of the times that our Jaina brothers are wide-awake and alive to the amelioration of their social and religious condition. It is a pleasant spectacle to see delegates from various parts of India meet together once a year, in common harmony and brotherly. Iove to discuss and exchange views for the moral advancement of their own community. The. Conference is certainly to be congratulated upon doing a really useful work; we hope our Jaina brothers will bear in mind the words of Prince Fatehsinrao that “only a hundredth part of the sacred books of the Jaina has yet been brought to light and that such conferences and exhibitions would induce young Jain scholars to dig deeper into the mines of learning and bring out valuable ore now huried and hidden.”
