As the morning came, Müladeva and the merchant left the house and the merchant came back in the evening without any disguise. As the woman saw him, she felt confused and nervous but she managed to regain the presence of her mind, and welcomed him home with usual courtesies but that night when they sat for dinner, the merchant recounted the whole story of the evening before and of the drunken song. The woman was put to great shame and the merchant soon afterwards left the city with his wife as people who have come into disgrace generally do.
