________________ CHAPTER 12 On the Loka-tattva-nirnaya of Haribhadra R. S. BETAI The Loka-tattva-ņirņaya is a small work comprising 147 stanzas. This paper deals with the concept of the Supreme Soul and man in this work. As is laid down in one of the editions, the work discusses the following topics: 1. Discussion about the fitness or otherwise of the listener, . i.e. the Jaina follower; 2. The divine element (devatā-tattva); 3. Exposition of the divine element that is known as reality (yathārtha-tattva); 4. Exposition of the various views proposed by different traditions on the nature of reality in the world; 5. The view of the false philosophers regarding the reality of the world; 6. The true nature of the reality of the world; 7. The views of various opponents pertaining to the nature of the soul and various traditions based on them; 8. The nature of the soul and karma; 9. The precise nature of reality; and 10. Refutation of the theory of the Supreme Soul as the creator of the world.
