9. Keśa-vānijjā (trade in men and animals)-trade in
creatures that have hairs: 10. Vișa- vānijjā (trade in destructive articles)- trade in
poison, mechanical devices etc. 11. Yantra-pidana (work involving milling)- making
different oils by operation of mills 12. Nirlāñchana (work involving mutilation)- branding bulls
by putting seals etc. 13. Dāvāgni-dāna (work involving use of fire) firing forests,
igniting candles on dipotsava etc. 14. Saraha-sosaņa (work involving the use of water)- drawing
water from lakes, tanks 15. Asati-posaņa (work involving breeding and rearing)
keeping and breeding destructive animals as parrots,
cocks, dogs, monkeys etc. The vower should abandon things of both the types whose use possibly involves much violence and evil. The objective of this vow is to make all happy and to divert them to the path of humanity.
There are five aticāras of Bhogopabhoga-parimāņa-vrata: (i) Sacittāhāra (consuming sentient things)- things
containing earth-bodied, water-bodied and vegetablebodied jivās-kanda, mūla, etc. Sacitta-pratibandhāhāra (consuming what is connected with sentient things)- eating ripe fruits, which are
attached to a tree. (iii) Apakvauşadhi-bhakşaņa (Consuming uncooked
vegetable products)- Taking uncooked pulses and grain. (iv) Duş-pakvauşadhi-bhakşaņa (Consuming partly
cooked vegetable products)- taking partly cooked things e.g. cooked rice spoiled either by excessive moisture or because the grains in the centre are still raw.
