सर्वश्रेष्ठ यज्ञ तप ज्योति है, जीव ज्योतिस्थान है, मन, वचन व काया के योग कड़छी है, शरीर कारीषांग (गोबर के कंडे) है, कर्म जलाया जानेवाला ईंधन है, संयम-योग शान्ति-पाठ है। मैं इस प्रकार का यज्ञ करता हूँ जिसे ऋषियों ने श्रेष्ठ बताया है।
The Greatest Sacrifice I perform the sacrifice which has been regarded as the greatest by the sages wherein austerity is the fire, the self is the hearth, right exertion is the sacrificial ladle, karma is the fuel, self-restraint and tranquillity are the oblations.
कर्मों की निर्जरा जैसे एक विशाल तालाब में पानी आने के मार्गों के रोक दिये जाने पर, उसमें संचित जल उलीचने से समाप्त हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार एक संयमी पुरुष के नवीन पाप-कर्मों के प्रवाह के रोक दिये जाने पर, करोड़ों भवों के संचित कर्म तप द्वारा विनष्ट हो जाते हैं।
Annihilation of Karmas As a large tank, when its supply of water has been blocked, gets gradually drained by consumption so do the karmas of a self-restrained monk accumulated over millions of births get annihilated by austerities, if there is no fresh influx of karmas.
