________________ SANNYAHA DADIMA l'ecline. When sloeping, he should lie only on one side, and should not chango to the other during sleep. Dakya suddhi is the purification of speech. Tho saint should never utter speech that has a tondency to the causing of himső (injury), fighting, or exciting passions ; his words should not be insulting or harsh, nor in the nature of backbiting, nor should they be uttered to reveal the secrets of others. The sādhu avoids reciting tales of love, adventure, and high living, and also political gossip. He seoks only to impart a useful lesson to his hearers, and to encourage them to adopt the vows and to cultivate the virtue of righteousness. His discourse should be brief, sweet, agreeable, and productive of the spirit of true vairāgya (renunciation). Self-praise is as objection. able for tho saiut as talking ill of others. All good. noss comes to offor itself to him who bas attained to tho vakya suddhi in asceticismi, Such is the nature of the different kinds of sud lhis which are helpful in maintaining the purity of the upahrita samayama. Samyoma is of five kinds from another point of view These are: (1) sımāyika, (2, chhedopasthāpanā, (3) parihara visuddni, (4) sukshma sâmprāyaya, and 15) yathākhyāta. Samāyika is the refraining from the commission of sin through the activities of the mind, speech and the body. This may be for a limited time or without the fixation of any limit of time.
