He is the founder of several humanitarian organisations as well as an author, speaker and recipient of the 2008 Hindu of the Year award Ida Pedanda GK Sebali Tianyar Arimbawa, of Amlapura, Bali, Indonesia, was confirmed as a Bali Hindu Priest in 1985, and is currently Dharma Adhyaksa of the High Priests' Assembly of Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia Indonesian Hindu Councill. He is active in AIDS educa tion and care for youth; and fosters the presence of traditional eco-socioreligio knowledge and practices in national/global environmental forums. Pedanda Arimbawa has joined interreligious art, prayer, and dialogues throughout Indonesia and internationally Robert Dipper' DiPierdomenico is a National AusKick Ambassador and former professional Australian Rules footballer. In 1986 he received the Brownlow Medal and he was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2007. He coached the Israeli-Palestinian Peres Team for Peace in the 2008 Australian Football international Cup. Yonatan Belik was an Israeli team member on the 2008 AFL Peace Team. The convocation of saints will begin with Vedic chanting, prayers, meditation and music. These opening observances will be followed by a number of eminent speakers on universal themes such as spiritual values and peace as well as current issues such as humanitarian work, education and the environment. All are welcome at this very inspiring and enlightening gathering! Arvind Sharma is a Birks Professor of Comparative Religions at McGill University and author of two books: 'Hinduism and Human Rights and Problematizing Religious Freedom' [forthcoming). He is also a convener of two major post- and pre-Parliament conferences (Montreal 2006, Delhi 2009) and a scholar of Hinduism and comparative religions. Her Grace Taraka Devi Dasi is a senior member of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), and a disciple of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of ISKCON. She is also an expert in environmental issues and a teacher and priest within the movement. HH Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami is the designated successor to Sivaya Subramuniyaswami of blessed memory. He was a Co-President of the 1993 Centenary Parliament of the World's Religions. H H Veylanswami is Guru Mahasiddhanam and 163rd preceptor of the 2.200-year-old Kailasa Parampara of the Nadinatha Sampradaya in the Saivite Hindu tradition. He is also the publisher of the international quarterly journal "Hinduism Today Sri Paramahamsa Prajnananda Giri is the current spiritual leader of the Kriya Yoga international organisations. These organisations were founded by his master, Paramahamsa Hariharananda, who spread the teachings of Kriya Yoga all over the world. Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji Universities, Interreligious Dialogue, and Social Justice: A Conversation Katherine Marshall Paul Rauschenbush Suhair Hassan Al-Qurashi Kim Hourn kao Thomas Banchoff Patrice Brodeur Room 203 Religion has been historically linked to higher education, as many of the oldest and best-established colleges and universities were founded to train young men for lives in religious service. The purposes and uses of the university have changed dramatically, but learning and debate about religious issues remains a central occupation even of secular institutions. A central challenge is translating dialogue on important issues and relationships forged at the university into action on the ground to address pressing global challenges. Sharing their experience leading interreligious dialogue and initiatives at two major U.S. universities, Paul Rauschenbusch. Tom Banchoff, and Katherine Marshall will talk about the possibilities and limits of interreligious work in the university setting. International colleagues will broaden the discussion. Katherine Marshall is a Senior Fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and Visiting Professor in the Government Department and the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown Universily. She leads the Berkley Center's work on faith-inspired institutions, Katherine's work in development involves a series of regional background papers and consultations with academics and practitioners and a series of reviews of development topics. After a career as a disc jockey and record producer living in Barcelona, Spain, Paul Raushenbush embarked on a personal journey that would transform his life and inspire the lives of many. Now a Baptist minister, Paul joined the Office of Religious Life at Princeton University in 2002 as the associate dean of religious life. Paul serves as co-director of Princeton's Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determinations Program on Religion, Diplomacy and International Relations.
