Exploring the Universality of God's Religion Dr Saleem Ahmed Zachary Perlman Sr Joan Chatfield Rev Alan Goto Room 101 Panel Discussion The Qur'an's affirmation that God sent messengers to all nations of the world, and Prophet Muhammad's clarification that there were 124,000 such messengers, inspired Dr Saleem Ahmed to examine the sacred texts of several religions. He discovered the same Reality in all, though called by different names and honoured through diverse rituals. This included not only 'major organised religions such as the other two Abrahamic faiths and religions predominant in South and East Asia, but also several Indigenous and New Age religions. Through exploring the interconnectedness of religions, appreciating the common ethical values and human aspirations transcending religions, and recognising the underlying convergence of the seemingly diverse rituals used to try to reach the Reality, this program will bring together diverse voices to celebrate spiritual similarities among religions and savour ritual differences. Panellists will also discuss their developing programs and plans, such as the projects of Monks Without Borders and the 2011 international interfaith conference under the theme 'One Humanity. One Reality. Converging Paths. Dr Saleem Ahmed is president of the Hawaii-based All Believers Network, which brings together people on the basis of their shared belief in One Reality. He is also Executive Director of the 'One Reality Conference scheduled for Honolulu May 29-June 4, 2011 Idates tentativel. He is author of 'Beyond Veil and Holy War: Islamic Teachings and Muslim Practices with Biblical Comparisons' (2002) and 'Islam: A Religion of Peace? (2009). Zachary Perlman has studied several traditions including Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Gnostic Christianity, Perlman's primary interest is in comparative religion but his professional background also includes website design, audio/video editing, and multimedia product development. Perlman serves on the Southern California Committee for a Parliament of the World's Religions and as Executive Director of Monks Without Borders.
narrow motivations? How do we get to that place where we become truly interested in each other? How does this interest become friendship and ripen into Love? If we can answer this, we have found the key: for once we love someone, the desire wells up to help, to hear and to heal. But from where comes this desire to love onc another? It appears naturally among family and friends: it builds between neighbours who work together; and it begins between strangers once trust is won. And why is Love so powerful, so efficient at resolving the knots in our relationships? To understand this we need to know more about what and who we are. The Urantia Papers, which we would like to introduce, offer new answers to these old questions. As well as providing a larger frame in which to think-one that may satisfy scientists, philosophers and religionists alike-the Urantia Papers reveal a fresh perspective on Personality. They trace for us the rise and role of Love, from the eternal core of the Absolute directly into the human heart Nigel Nunn has a BSc in Mathematics (Astrophysics and writes software for Physics.
