________________ - iv A4 among works on Nyāyaśāstra. The names of our author's own works on Nyāya viz-Nāyyakalikā, Nyāyapallava aird Nyāyamañjari-point to the relative merit of the works. With superb mastery over Vedas, Mimāmsā, Vyākaraṇa, Nyāya and Buddhistic works combined with poetic abilities, Jayanta has produced this wonderful book. The author's poetic excellence, sense of humour and vast vocabulary are evident every where in this work. The literary finesse and śāstraic vepth of this work are best summed up in the following verses ... Kādambarikathāsāra Verse 2 Nyāyamañjari attracted the attention of many ancient scholars very early. The commentary called “Nyāyamañjarigranthibhanga" by Cakradhara (published by L. D. Institute of Indology, Ahmedabad) bears testimony to this. Cakradhara often says—'anye vyacakṣate' and sometimes even gives the different readings acepc ted by other commentators. However, the only commentary available now is the above cited Nyāyamañjarī granthibhanga. In spite of the sweetness of language and lucidity of diction, Nyāyamañjari has a good many knotty passages as noted by Cakradhara
