From the titles, the nature of the contents of the work is clear. It is not traditional in its contents in so far as it does not follow any particular Vāda or deal with the Alankaranas of Kāvya such as Rasa and Dhvani, Guna and Alankara, Rīti and Adosatā, Vakrokti and Atiśaya etc. It does not strictly follow the method and contents of the works even of Rajasekhara, Kşemendra etc., who partially deal with the problems dealt with by Amara Candra. Its main topics of detailed discussion and analysis, from the point of view of training and equipment of a poet are - छन्दस्, शब्द, अर्थ and श्लेष in Kavya, while along with these some figures, place of metre in Kavya, Kavisamaya, topics of description, Adbhuta etc. are discussed. One important feature of the sūtra work is that it lays down a rule or a thought or a doctrine, partially analyses it and illustrates it by suitable terse examples – all in verse. In a way we can say that even the sūtra work as it is, is specific in the purpose accepted.
Actually the present work fully justifies the other title ofaf te which is less popular. It is natural that the poet, after he is blessed with the necessary for41
