________________ KAVIKAUSTUBHA Index of Sanskrit Mss. at Adyar (no. 6428), Fraffolt is a drama written by (wit) rare son of aperart. 65. an is a bird which is said to feed on the moonbeams. Cf. Filem Ahlma ayar #23FAT-alueta I. 11. The fault Fonte occurs in the fourth line of this stanza, as it is said that the nectar from the rays of the moon collected on the moon-stones was solidified by the early rays of the sun.. But the warmth of the solar rays would evaporate the pīyürd rather than solidify it. 66--67. When a thing which is never found in a particular place is described as being present there, there occurs the fault, daranty, e. g. to say that rivers flow continually in a desert (58) or that elephants in rut are always found on the Malaya mountain constitutes this fault, for a desert would not be a desert if rivers flowed through it and it is the Vindhya mountain which is the home of the clephants and not the Malaya, so well known for sandle trees. See stz 69 below. . 67. 1. 1. A work called that is recorded in the Catalogus Cataogorum ( I. 93, I. 778., II. 18) and is described as a work on alankāra, or erotic but its author is गुणाकर and not धनञ्जय. 68. Construe-gofc7agateay #: qanchalar Tarigi THAT acesta सिनीनां रतिखिन्नकिन्नरीणां श्रमं अहरत्. Here the fault देशविरोधि is present as चन्दन is mentioned as belonging to the Vindhya thereby violating a poetic convention recorded in the following stanza. 69. This stanza records the poetic conventions (fache) regarding the horses, elephants, birch-skin, and sandal-trees. 70. A list of 64 Kalās or Vidyās is given at Kānosūtra I. 3. 16. It looks apparently strange that a wrong statement about the TFs and their res is given as an instance of realy. But the 54th kalā in the Kāmasūtro, list is cloffis and this is explained by the commentator Yasodhara as संस्कृतप्राकृतापदंशकाव्यस्य करणम्. . This would require a correct knowledge of the Rosa-theory and any defect in connection with it would be called 71. This stanza. contains the fault कलाविरुद्ध as the स्थायिभावs of the वीर. शुकार, करुण (करुणा is the text is inaccurate) and हास्य are wrongly mentioned. उत्साह is the स्थायिभाव of वीर, रति of शृङ्गार, शोक of करुण, and हास of हास्यरस. क्रोध is the filforata of tim, fan of 7 and of the #17 72. The fault कलाविरुद्ध arises out of the use of प्रियतम in प्रियतमश्रुते. The use of the superlative suffix in ferua implies the existence of a fire who is loved less than the 17451H. But it must be remembered that poets often use the comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives in a loose sense and it would be over-fastidiousness to pick faults in such cases, 72. 11. 1. 2. To understand the full significance of the words retra = ...ata: it should be noted that this stanza, Taras is given as an illustration of the स्वीयानायिकाधर्म. तम-ग्रहणेन, by the use of the superlative Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
