FOREWORD.
The writing of something like a foreword to this book of sublime songs aud prayers composed by recognized writers and edited by a sound savant is certainly a presumption and requires an apology: I have only to say that I cannot propose anything to state here by way of supplementing the theme or the Introduction. What I propose to do is to make a short humble statement regarding the importance of the book to students and the place it deserves to occupy in the hearts of houselesss monks and devoted householders.

It gives me much pleasure to say that the present volume which is intended to form the first volume of the Prachina-Jaina-Sahity. odhara-granthāvali (Ancient Jain Literature Publication Series ) forms a right pioneer for the series and opens up altogether a new vista to workers in the field of Jain literature, religion
