FOREWORD.
The writing of something like a foreword to this book of sublime songs aud prayers composed by recognized writers and edited by a sound savant is certainly a presumption and requires an apology: I have only to say that I cannot propose anything to state here by way of supplementing the theme or the Introduction. What I propose to do is to make a short humble statement regarding the importance of the book to students and the place it deserves to occupy in the hearts of houselesss monks and devoted householders.
