JAINOLOGY DEPT. ESTABLISHED AT MADRAS UNIVERSITY
Madras, Tamilnadu, November 15 UNIVERSITY OF MADRAS oldest in south, has established the department of Jainology, and this becomes the third university with a department of Jainology and Prakrit. The other two are University of Mysore and University of Karnatak.
Dr. T. G. Kalghatgi, a well known Professor and Jainologist, has been named to head the department. Dr. Kalghatgi, formerly Professor of Jainology at Mysore University, is a great scholar and has authored many great publications.
ANUVRAT AWARD FOR FORMER PRIME MINISTER
Jaipur, Rajasthan JAIN TULSI FOUNDATION has selected Mr. G. L. Nanda, former Prime Minister of India, for the Anuvrat Award of the year. The award carries a silver shield and one lakh of rupees cash. Mr. Nanda's contribution in the public character and human values have been cited.
