It may be pertinent to note liere that an inscription has been discovered from a temple near the village of Barli near Osian in Rajputana dated 84th year of the Nirvana of Mahavira bearing the nanie of the town Majjhimniki or Madhyamika mentioned in the Mahabhashya of Patanjali. The said inscription is now in the Ajmere Government Museum. The said inscription not only bears witness to the antiquity of Jainism, but also to the above remarks of Lokmanya re Vira era. The inscription reads as follows :-- " वीराय भगवते चतुर्गामनि वसे काये जालामालिनिये निविट माझिमिके।"
