________________ Religion is a brother for the brotherless person, a friend for the friendless, a protector of the vulnerable, ensuring the welfare of all people. (Y.S.) IN PRAISE OF GOD I bow down to Rushabhdev who is the first amongst kings, the first to propogate non acquisition and who is the first Tirthankar, (Saklarhat Stotra S.S.) Those blissful eyes of Lord Mahavir, mercyful even towards the wicked, were moist with tear-drops as he felt pity towards the wasted efforts of a tyrant. (The tyrant Sangam tried for 6 months to harrass the Lord but He was unperturbed, and when defeated Sangam left, the Lord's eyes were moist with tears. He felt pity towards Him. Let this mercyful Lord protect us. (S.S.) I bow down to Lord Mahavir who is like a beautiful garden for the trees of bliss and welfare, who is like a Himalaya from where the river of knowledge starts and who is like a sun for the lotuses of this world. (Vir Jin Stotra V.S.) Let the blissful speech of the Lord protect us, that speech which has been compared to water capable of washing off all the dirts of senseless minds.
