ance ; Devanāgari characters; handwriting, bold, clear and legible ; borders ruled in two double black lines ; red pig. ment occasionally used.
The Ms. is divided into two parts, (the gent and the उत्तरभाग) each having a separate pagination. It contains twenty introductory stanzas which give the genealogy of the author. The first part is incomplete. The second part also contains eight introductory stanzas which state that
the work was completed by Bäņa's son. Age.- Samvat 1958. Authors.- Bana and his son. Subiect. A prose romance by Bāna and his son, describing the
love story of Kādambari and Candràpida. It is divided into two parts viz. the पूर्वभाग and the उत्तरभाग, the latter
being written by Bana's son. Begins— folio 1b
___ श्रीगणेशाय नमः ।। ॥ रजोजुषे जन्मनि सत्यवृत्तये स्थितौ प्रजानां प्रलये तमःस्पृशे । अजायसर्गस्थितिनाशहेत त्रयी मया यत्रिगुणात्मने नमः ॥१॥ जयंति बाणासुरमौलिलालिता दशास्यचूडामणिचक्रचुंबिनः।। सुरासुराधीशशिखांतशायिनो भवच्छिदस्यंबकपादपांसवः |२|| etc. After such 20 introductory verses:
आसीदशेषनरम्पतिशिरः समभ्यर्चितशासनः पाकशासन इवापरश्वतुर. दधिमालामेखलाया भुवो भर्ता प्रतापानुरागावनतसमस्तसामंतचक्रः चक्रवर्तिलक्षणोपेतश्चक्रधर इव करकमलोपलक्ष्यमाण शंखचक्रलांछनो हर इव जितमन्मथ: etc. ... ... ... ... ... ... सकलारातिकुलाचलो राजा शूत्रको नाम ॥ etc.
