We shall thus be erecting a Temple of Truth which shall also be a real Temple of Union that shall be the place of worship for all kinds and classes of men, where differences shall not need to be stifled but shall actually go to clarify the real fundamental tenets of Truth and to cement friendship and amity amongst men all the more closely for their reiteration. Jain Education International Puig I must not, however, suffer you to remain under the erroneous impression that anything like complete justice can be done to the subject. This is simply out of the question, being precluded by the vastness of the field of enquiry. My difficulty arises as much from want of time, which is entirely inadequate for the task, as from lack of knowledge and penetration into a very large number of quaint conceptions of mystic and mystifying thought that have been woven into theological dogmas and myths. In the face of all these elements of difficulty there is, however, one great feature of reassurance and encouragement which consists in the discovery of the important fact that mystic thought has been running on parallel lines in all the different creeds and cults and that an elucidating 'key' is nearly always to be found concealed, or is, at least, easily traceable in almost every ancient scripture.
