________________ २ . II. A fast on the अष्टमी day destroys eight actions: ज्ञानावरण, दर्शनावरण, वेदनीय, मोहनीय, आयुष्क, नाम, गोत्र and अन्तराय. 13. A fast on the चतुर्दशी day destroys four sorts of गति viz. देव, मनुष्य, तिर्यक् and नारक. [K. I0.] 2. धम्मज्झाणे = sk. धर्मध्यानेन by धर्म type of meditation तत्वार्थ. 9.29. आर्तरौद्रधर्मशुक्लानि; (9.30) परे मोक्षहेतू । There are four types of meditation : आत, रौद्र, धर्म and शुक्ल; the last two are the causes of मोक्ष; धर्मध्यान can be possible for अप्रमत्त and संयत for the purpose of (I) आज्ञा (2) अपाय; (3) विपाक; (4) संस्थान विचय and these can come in उपशान्तमोह and क्षीणमोह गुणस्थान. See तत्त्वार्थ 9. 37-38 with commentary for the explanation. 5. Read इयउववासइ =sk एकोपवासेन. 6-7. उत्तम, मध्यम and जघन्य अनशन are described. 8. णिबद्धावग्गह =limited to a fixed varieties of food; अणिबद्धावग्गह भोयणु-avoids whatever is first served in the dish. II. मोक्खावहि हरेइ =sk. मोक्षावधिं हरति-removes the time-limit of मोक्ष. 12-13. introduce the 3rd शिक्षाव्रत i.e. भोगोपभोगसंख्याकरणम् . [K. II] 9. introduces the 4th शिक्षाबत viz. अतिथिसंविभाग, 10. तिविहु पत्तु तिहि गुणिहि विराइउ=sk. त्रिविध पात्रं त्रिभिर्गुणैर्विराजितं-पात्र refers to उत्तम, मध्यम and जघन्य; threefold merits of दर्शन ज्ञान and चारित्र. See T. 12. तिविहभोयभूमिहि =sk. त्रिविधभोगभूमिषु; त्रिविधं सुखं refers to उत्तम, मध्यम and try levels of experiencing joy; threefold happiness : high normal and low. [K. 12.] I. कुभोयभूमिहि-in the level of lower forms of joy. 2. Read: अण्णाणियतवमग्गु वियाणहि-they know the way of austerities which is practised by those who do not possess right knowledge. 7. Just as the sacred ohlation is put on the ashes. 13. Just as running away from the front of the battle which ought to be fought (जुज्झेवइ) becomes harmful (भारिउ).
