This K. describes अनशन which is सावधि and निरवधि from line 7 onward. सावधि-for a certain limit of time and निरवधि-for the whole life.
II. आराहणकहिउ-as told in the scriptural work called आराधना.
13. माणस-मयगल-खंचणु-a control of the elephant in the form of mind. [K. 2.]
3. The ऊनोदर or अवमौदर्य penance is described. This तपस् means taking of food less by three-fourth than the full ration required for the appeasement of hunger.

9. णिचणिमित्ति = नित्य-नैमित्तिका ( संख्या ); always or occasional.
II. भंग्गुप्पायविवजिउ =sk. (व्रत )भङ्ग-(अतिचार )-उत्पाद-विवर्जितम् । उप्पाडइ = sk. उत्पाटयति uproots.
