This catalogue contains the description of two collections of the Sanskrit mss. transferred with other Oriental books, in July 1876, by the Royal Society to the custody of the India Office. The first collection was originally presented by Sir William and Lady Jones [69 mss. (p. 1-40)] to the Royal Society and a general description of this collection by Sir Charles Wilkins appeared on pp. 401-415 of the Vol. Xli of Sir William Jones' work (1807 edition). The second collection was a gift to the Royal Society from Mr. Burjorjee Sorabjee Ashburner [mss. LXXLXXXIV (pp. 41-53)]. Two other mss. (p. 53-54) which were made over by the Royal Society at the same time have also been included in this catalogue. Description of 86 Sanskrit mss. with extracts notes etc. Title and author Index.
