The Royal Library at Lucknow was originally kept in the old palace (Purana Dawlat Khanah). It contained the literary treasures of Hafitz Rahmat Khan and was subsequently much enriched by Ghaziy Aldyn Haydar. Sprenger examined about 10,000 mss. during 1848-1850.
