________________ A MANUAL OF (कम्मधारए), पडिहपयञ्चक्खायं पावकम्मं जेणं से पडिहयपञ्चक्खायपावकम्मे (बहुव्वीहि), संजए विरए (विसेसेणं रए विरए) पडिहयपच्चक्खायपावकम्मे य संजयविरयपडिहयपच्चक्खायपावकग्मे, one who is self-controlled (संजय), devoted to duty (विरय) and who has completely renounced doing sinful deeds; परीसहरिऊदन्ता-परीसहा एव रिऊ (कम्मधारए), दन्ता परीसहरिऊ जेहिं ते परीसहरिऊदन्ता, those who have subdued or curbed their enemies, namely, the unpleasant contacts. सपुत्ते-पुत्तेणं सह सपुत्ते, with his son; ससरक्खे-रएणं सह ससरक्खे (सरजस्क), full of dust or impurities. ___105. The अव्वईभाव' or adverbial compound in Amg. is formed by putting together an indeclinable or a preposition, and a noun. Thus we have :-Alawirat or जावजीवाए-जाव जीवे वट्टइ ताव जावजीवं or जावजीवाए, so long as life lasts ; अहासुहं-जहा सुहं सिया तहा अहासुहं, as would please you; आणुपुट्वि-पुग्वेणं अणुवट्टमाणं, in due order; अहागडं-जहा (कडं) सिया तहा अहागडं, as would be done (obtained ). There is a class of adverbs which have the Genitive ending Fy such as TETEKT, (breaking a thing) with the तट sound in the fashion of a rope; सरसरस्स, (climbing) with the sound in the fashion of a snake ; दवदवस्स, (going ) with a quick gait or with quick steps ; छडछडस्स, (whipping) with the सट् sound of a whip; धगधगस्त (burning) with the धग sound of fire; मडमडस्स, (killing an animal) with the HF sound in the fashion of a butcher, which also may be regarded as adverbial compounds. IX SYNTAX 106. The order of words in Amg. prose is more or less governed by the same principles as are applicable to Sanskrit.
