HC Bayani Pk In 'besmeared, 'ghae, greasy
1. Under “Dešinamālā' 5.22 Hemacandra has noted Pk. grua for which he has given, besides others, two meaning - equivalents in Sk.: f&'besmeared' and FATET 'greasy'.
In Hāla's Gāhākosa 909 occurs thrice. In verse no. 22 in the compound expression वण्ण-घिअ-तुप्प-मुहिएँ for which there is a variant reading quo-f8137-FT- EG. In verse no. 520 also we have वण्ण-घिअ-तुप्प-मुहि. In verse no. 289 occurs तुप्पाणणा which is rendered by a commentator as qafmana. In Bhuvanapāla's recension we have तुप्पालया for तुप्पाणणा, rendered as afihistant in the commentary.
In the Jain Agama ‘Daśāśrutaskandha’ (8122) occurs qum ‘whose ends are bemeared with oil.'
In Hemacandra's Siddhahema grammar अंकोल्ल-तेल्ल-तुप्पं 'bemeared with the oil of Ankostha'is cited in the commentary on 8-1-200.
In the 'Desi Sabda Kosa' तुप्पित = म्रक्षित from ‘Anuyogadvāra-cūrņi' and gruqy = fire from ‘Vipākas'ruta’ are noted.
In the 'Gāhākosa' occurs the denominative (9954 (with variants तुप्पविअ, तुप्पलिअ) 'besmeared with ghee' in verse 529.
In ‘Setubandha' (15,38) 909 is used in the sense of 'ghee'. Past passive participle 3gfu 'besmeared of the verb formed from 709 occurs in Jain Āgamika texts. For example : #G3f74a-UETfuq-fonfetal-TT ('Praśnavyaāņkaraña”, chapter 3, in the description of thieves) having limbs drenched and besmeared with oil emitted from perspiration'. With gyfoe we
