________________ ( 2 ) It is so believed by the advocates of dualism that in case they can find fault with the method employed by the Advaitins, they would succeed in attaining victory over them and compelling them to surrender. Vedantadesika, author of Satadusani, condemned the Advaita method in all his sixty-five vadas. It may not be out of place to mention in this context that my esteemed teacher in Mimamsa and Vedanta, the late MM Ananta Krishna Sastrin criticised and rejected each and every point of objection raised in Satadusani. At the outset he took up the subject of the agreement of Badarayana-sutras with non-dualism and next proceeded to examine the rejection of the methods. In truth, the methods are employed, as the Advaitins assert, to serve the purpose of reaching advaita and once the goal is reached they retain no value in and by themselves. Rightly does the grammarian philosopher state: Sastresu prakriyabhedair avidyai'vo pavarnyate 1 The Advaitins, therefore, do not attach any importance to the identities of the methods as possessing any ultimate value of their own. So says, Sri Harsa, author of Khandanakhanda-khadya: Abhistasiddhav api khanananam akhandi rajnam iva nai'vam ajna i Tat tani kasman na yathabhilasam saiddhantike' py adhvani yojayadhvam 11 The argument employed for rejecting the views of the Naiyayikas may be used in rejecting the methods of thePage Navigation
