The feeling of self is the highest of all religions Religion starts with this and attains fulfilment with this It is difficult to conceive of any other religion apart from this. The feeling of self is the religion of the soul To turn one's gaze inward to see the soul is the samething as the feeling of the self And one can see the soul if one diverts his developed knowledge from everything else and concentrates it on the soul. A methodology for this may be incessant culture of it. But even this may not be enough, for there is nothing, which may itself generate the feeling of the soul in one To acquire this feeling, one must remove his gaze from everything else in the universe, 'everything else including not only the body as distinct from the soul, matter like karma, etc., but even disturbances within the soul as well as other souls Beyond all these, there is one, and only one fundamental, the soul, single, undivided, pervading all the three time periods, animate and constant, which alone is deserving of attention, and this generates the feeling of self, or what has been called religion. Right faith has eight limbs which are as follows: (1) undaunted (nihzankita), (2) indifference to objects (nihkānksita), (3) equanimity to all states of objects (nırvicikitsa), (4) infallible outlook (amüdhadystı), (5) overlooking others' faults (upagūhana), (6) attainment of a stable position (sthitikaraṇa), (7) attachment for merit and the meritorious (vātsalya) and (8) concentration and right counselling (prabhāvanā) On the attainment of right faith, these things easily appear in a person In consequence, compared to common people, many specialities appear in his life, and he becomes different from the rest.
