UNPERTURBED BY THE FURIOUS HISSING OF THE SERPENT, MAHAVIRA PROCEEDED. THE SERPENT CAME NEAR HIM AND
WAS ABOUT TO BITE HIM.
MAHAVIRA STARED AT IT CALMLY AND WITH COMPASSION.
IMMEDIATELY IT SUBSIDED AND SLITHERED AWAY AS IF ASHAMED OF ITSELF.
