PREFACE
Tarkatarangini by Gunaratnagani, though a subcommentary on Tbh. a very exhaustive and comprehensive volume of Nyaya-vaiseṣika school. In it we find a pleasant blending of ancient Nyaya and Neologic-[Navyanyāya] together with the cardinal principles of Vaiseṣika school. It is a matter of pleasure, therefore, that it is now being published for the first time by L. D. Institute, Ahmedabad-a renowned Institute devoted solely to the high ideals of Indian culture and philosophy.
I am deeply obliged by and grateful to late Agamaprabhākara Muni Shri Punya Vijayji through whose good offices, I could procure the microfilm copy of the Ms. of Tt., from the British Museum, London. I am also thankful to the authorities of the Oriental Institute, Vadodara, for kindly allowing me to use the rare Ms of Tt. My thanks are due to the authorities of L. D. Institute of Indology, particularly to Pundit Shri Dalasukhbhai Malvania for encouraging me by accepting this critical edition of Tt. as their publication.
I have no words to express my gratefulness to my teacher and guide late Dr. J. S. Jetly who not only taught me the subject and important doctrines of Nyaya-vaiśeṣika philosophy and the science of editing but also encouraged me in editing Tt.
