FOREWORD
We feel happy to publish the Tarka-Tarangini of Gunaratna gani of Kharatara-gaccha. The Tarangini in its original form is the work relating to the Nyaya-veisesika philosophy. The study of the tenets of these two philosophical schools is indispensable for Indian philosophy. The thinkers of the other philosophical schools have also written on Nyāya-veiseșika doctrine. Gunaratna gani (V. S. 1610/A. D. 1554), a learned Jaina muni, wrote this commentary which deserves attention. Using different mss. available in the Jaina Bhandaras, the work has been carefully edited and is now published. Dr. Vasant Parikh is the editor of this important work. We thank him for his efforts.
We hope that this publication will be useful to the scholars as well as students of the Nyāya-Vaisesika schools.
