________________ 86 : Sramaņa, Vol 66, No. 1, January-March 2015 (1) Kāla : This means studying the scriptures only at the right times, not other than that like noon, midnight etc. which are not proper for carrying out spiritual studies. Though nowadays śrāvakas have their own busy schedule but they should spare time for studying the scripture at right time. (2) Vinaya : Śrāvaka should show politeness to the Gurumahārāja, the enlightened one and to substances that bring knowledge. (3) Bahumāna : Śrāvaka should have the highest reverence for the Gurumahārāja , scholars etc. (4) Upadhāna : Carrying out Yogodvahana i.e. spiritual exercises for attaining authority over the sūtras and their implications. (5) Anihnava : A śrāvaka should not condemn the giver of knowledge and knowledge, even though the giver is younger or not popular and also should not hide his name. (6) Vyañjana : Pronouncing proper sounds and uttering properly the meaning, the sūtras, their words etc. and reading clearly and perfectly. (7) Artha Thus pronouncing sūtras in accordance with their meaning, inner meaning, essence as they are and not giving any imaginative meaning or assumptions. (8)Tadubhaya : Remembering them; contemplating on them and assimilating them i.e. read the sūtras clearly, listen and teach clearly.' (II) Darśanācāra Darśana means to see but here it means faith. Darśana is of two types- Samyagdarśana and Mithyādarśana. Having a view of anything
