Fourth National Workshop on Prakrit Language & Literature (31st Oct.-14th Nov. 2014) Organized Successfully Parshwanath Vidyapeeth (PV), an eminent institute of Indology in general and Jainology in particular, is well known to the academic world both within and outside India. It is recognized by Banaras Hindu University for Ph. D. degree and also by Scientific & Industrial Research Organization, Deptt. of Science and Technology, Government of India for conducting research. With its objective to promote knowledge of Prakrit Language and Literature Vidyapeeth organized a fifteen days National Workshop on Prakrit Language and Literature from 31st October -14th November 2014. It was the fourth workshop organized on the subject. There were 50 participants from the different universities, i.e. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, Gramyanchal Vidyapeeth, Varanasi, Nandlal Bajoria Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi and Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, JNU, New Delhi, VKS University, Arrah, Hindu PG College Zamania, G.J. PG College, Ballia. About 40 lectures and 14 special lectures were delivered by the experts in this workshop. In fact the pattern of this school was to teach the Prakrit grammar through operational procedure employed in Sanskrit grammar. Sutras of Prakrit grammar used in the words were explained. The method adopted for teaching Prakrit language was drilling system. The formation of each word was analyzed and rules of grammar applied in a particular word, was also explained. Mostly classes were covered by Dr. Deenanath Sharma, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, and Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, PV, Varanasi.
