PREFACE.
This treatise was written by Shree Haribhadra Suree. No precise date could be assigned to this work, but this much is certain that it is prior to the Samvat year 585 or 529 A.D. as it was in that year that the author departed this life. The author has written fourteen hundred and forty four works, and this is one of them. This book is divided into sixteen chapters, each of which is composed of sixteen verses. It is perhaps from this that the author has named the work 'Shoda-Shaka.' Shree Yashobhadrasuree and Upadhyaya Shree Yashovijay have written commentaries upon this work, which have been given in order. No exact date of Shree Yashobhadrasuree could be traced out, but there are reasons to believe, from his name and his literary mode, that he might have existed during the 11th or 12th century. Upadhyaya Shree Yashovijay flourished in the 18th century. It seems he has made a little addition to the former commentary.
