cereals or grains may be included in this category. The early literature22 mentions 24 varieties of grains though Śrutasāgara Sūri of later period mentions only 7 or 18 varieties23. Currently, sugarcane and corriandar are not taken as grains because of their different structure. Fortunately, Śrutasāgara does also not mention them. Table 3 (a & b) gives this list on a comparative basis.
