________________ Sallekhana in Practice 53 disciple of Rāmacandra Maladhāri-deva. The event took place on the 13th day of the bright half of Phalguna, PramāthiSamvatsara 1293 ( 1374 A. D.) during the reign of Bukka Rāya. There are the names of the inembers of the family who raised the epitaph.21 There is one sentence ( 1375 A. D.) which merely wishes great auspicious fortune to Hemacandra Kirti Deva. Similarly, there is a short tribute paid to Padmanandi Deva, the disciple of Traividya Deva, who went to the heaven on Monday, the first day of the bright half of Caitra in Naļa Samvatsara ( 1376 A. D. ).33 The sixth stone at Hire-Āvali refers to the death of Bechi. gauda, the son of Candagauda. He was the disciple of Rāmacanura Maladhari and died repeating the pancanamaskāra mantra in Saka year 1298 ( 1376 A. D.) Aśvina Sudha 12. This was during the reign of Bukka Rāya. It is further recorded that the wife of Bechigauda by name Muddigaundi ascended the pyre of her husband and died. a 3 Ekamati-yabbe was the daughter of Muda-Gauda who was the disciple of Vīrasena-Deva. She died according to the rites of samadhi, repeating the pañcanamaskāra on the full moon day of the month of Jyeștha, Rudhirodgari Sarivatsara ( 1383 A. D.).24 The sixteenth stone at Hire-Avali refers to the period of the reign of Harihara Rāya, the son of Bukka Rāya. Munibhadra Svāmi was the master of all religious vows and virtues. His disciple Kāmagauda, was the leader of Jiddulige Nāļu. He was a devout follower in the path of Jina, extending all the four kinds of charities and a devout follower of the three jewels (ratnatrayadhārakanum ).
