Amongst Hemacandra's own works quotations are taken, generally with the montion yad avocāma or yad uktam asmālhih, from the Grammor, tho Dhātupātlu, the Abhidhānacintiimani and the Lingānus'āsand besides the Vitarăgrestotru. In addition, the Commentary often gives appended explanations of the author in the case of difficult points, which are introduced with the words aträntare e'lokah. At the end of the Commontary on Precis'o IV there is à vorso hinting that the first main section has been concluded:
इति निगदितमेतत्साधनं ध्यानसिद्धेयतिगृहिगतभेदादेव रत्नत्रयं च । सकलमपि यदन्यद् ध्यानभेदादि सम्यक् ।
प्रकटितमुपरिष्टादष्टभिस्तत् प्रकाशैः ॥ . The conculsion of the work, XII, 55 reads thus:

आचार्येण निवेशिता पथि गिरां श्रीहेमचन्द्रेण सा ॥ ५५ ॥ या योगस्योपनिषदहस्यमज्ञायि ज्ञाता । कुतः । शास्त्राद् द्वादशाङ्गात् । सुगुरोः सदागमव्याख्यातुर्मुखात् साक्षादुपदेशात् । अनुभवाच्च स्वसंवेदनरूपात् । किंचित् कचिदिति स्वप्मज्ञानानुसारेण । क्वचिदित्येकत्र सर्वस्य ज्ञातुमशक्यत्वात्प्रदेशभेदे वचन । उपनिषदं विशिनष्टि । विवेकिनां योगरुचीनां या परिषत्सभा तस्या यच्चतस्तच्चमत्करोतीत्येवंशीला सा योगोपनिषत् । श्रीचौलुक्यो यः कुमारपालनृपतिस्तस्यात्यर्थमभ्यर्थनया। स हि योगोपासनप्रियो दृष्टयोगशास्त्रान्तरश्च......भ्यो योगशास्त्रेभ्यो नि...णं योगशास्त्रं शुश्रूषभाणः......सर्वनरो वचनस्य......गिरां पथि निवेशि[तवान् आचार्यों हेमचन्द्र इति शुभम् ॥
श्रीचौलुक्यक्षितिपतिकृतप्रार्थनाप्रेरितोऽहं स[तत्वज्ञानानामृतजलनिधेर्योगशास्त्रस्य वृत्तिम् । स्वोपज्ञस्य व्यचरयमि[मां तावद् एषा च नन्द्याद् यावजैनप्रोवचनवती भूर्भुवःस्व [ख]यीयम् ॥१॥ संप्रापि योगशास्त्रात्तद्विवृतेश्चापि यन्मया सुकृतम् । तेन जिनबोधिलाभप्रणयी भव्यो जनो भवतात् ॥ २॥
Then follows the famous Colophon. The MS. which I have before mo, belonging to the library of tho Vienna University, contains 167 leaves with 19 lines on each page. Unfortunately the last page has suffered greatly through use, and cannot be completely deciphered. The date soems to be missing. However, the very archaic script makes it probable that the MS. is about 300-400 years old. The Granthāgras of the single Prakās ces are: Pr. I=2000; Pr. II=3500; Pr. III=3900.; Pr. IV = 2300; Pr. V=640%: Pr. VI=18; Pr. VII-39; Pr. VIII =149; Pr. IX-21; Pr.X-84; Pr. XI-210: Pr.. XII, illegible. It is also added that the Granthasamkhya of the last eight Prakās'as is 1500 and that of the whole is 12,000, which cannot be quite correct. Old MSS. of the work aro described in Dr. Petorson's First Report, App. 22,57 and in Third Report, App. 14, 15,74, 143, 170. 'The oldest, Thirl Report, p. 74, is of the year V. S. 1251, and was thereforo written 22 yours aftor Ilemicandit's death........ . . ...
.. 81. According to a MS, which was recently sent to me from Bombay the Vitarīgastotra con. sists of twenty.quite short sections, each of which bears the name stava or porcukois'u; 1) Prastāvanāstavah, 8 slokas, begins:
यः परात्मा परं ज्योतिः परमः परमेष्ठिनाम् । आदित्यवर्ण तमसः पुरस्तादामनन्ति यम् ॥१॥
