Introdaction
Bhadrabahu. There are two Sanskrit commentaries written a little earlier than the Pafjka, but they are no better than brief explanatory notes. The first is the Tippanaka of Pythvicandra, papil of Devasena, composed before Sam. 1292, which is the date of a Palm Ms. no. 226 in the Sanghavi Pada Bhandar, Patan. Another Me of the Tippana, namely no. 5 in box no. 63 of the New Sengh Bbandar at Vakhatji Sheri, Patna, is dated Sarn. 1307. The second of the two above-mentioned commentaries in the Dergapedanirakta, composed in Sari. 1325 by Vinayacandra, pupil of Rstrasimha. The Granthagra of the Tippana in 670, while that of the Nirukta is only 418.
Among the Sanskrit commentaries written after the Pañjikā, the following were composed by the teachers who belonged to the Tapa Gaocha :-(1) Kirapävali, composed in Sam. 1628 by Dharmasägaragani, popil of Vijayadāpasūri; (2) Kalpalata, composed in Sań. 1671 by Sabhavijayagani, papil of Hiravijayasuri; (3) Pradīpikă, composed in Sam. 1674, by Sanghavijayagani, papil of Vijayasenasüri; (4) Dipikā, composed in Sam. 1677, by Jayavijayagani, papil of Vimalaharşagani; (5) Kalpalatā composed about Sam. 1688, by Grņavijayagani, pupil of Kamalavijayagani; (6) Sabodhika, composed in Sam. 1696 by Vinayavijayagani, papil of Kirtivijayagani: (7) Kaumudi, composed in Sam. 1707 by Säntisagara, Pupil of Srutasāgara; (8) Dänadīpika, composed in Sam. 1722 by Dao vijaya, pupil
