Who is without body, even being lusterous like Gold, And is all alone, though aggregate of virtues who hold. Even after son of great king Siddhartha, he is quite without birth, Even being master of majesty, is devoid of passion and secular berth. Possessed of such peculiar body-form, breaking transmigrating ties, Such Mahaveer please reside in my eyes.
यदीया वाग्गङ्गा विविधनय-कल्लोलविमला बृहज्ज्ञानाम्भोभिर्जगति जनतां या स्नपयति। इदानीमप्येषा बुधजन-मरालैः परिचिता
महावीरस्वामी नयन-पथ-गामी भवतु मे॥ Whose Ganges of speech, endowed with waves of several standpoints, Causes worldly beings to bathe with water of wisdom of true view-points. Such 'Jin-wani' is known by swans of learneds still today. It is entrusted riches of all, who want benefit in any way Whose resonant preachings are capable of breaking transmigrating ties Such Mahaveer please reside in my eyes.
"अनिरोद्रेकस्त्रिभुवनजयी कामसुभटः
कुमारावस्थायामापि निजबलाद्येन विजितः। स्फुरन्नित्यानन्दप्रशम-पदराज्याय स जिनः
महावीरस्वामी नयन-पथ-गामी भवतु मे॥ Who, with a view of attaining the kingdom of eternal bliss, Eternal calm and tranquility, did not let his adolescence amiss Has conquered the conqueror of three universes, the invincible lust In his very adolescence, thus proved a warrior just. Who conquered the kingdom of salvation, breaking transmigrating ties Such Mahaveer please reside in my eyes.
महामोहातङ्क-प्रशमन-पराकस्मिक-भिषङ् निरापेक्षो बन्धुर्विदितमहिमा मङ्गलकरः। शरण्यः साधूनां भवभयभृता-मुत्तमगुणो
महावीरस्वामी नयन-पथ-गामी भवतु मे॥ Who is an unexpected doctor for suppressing disease of delusion. Who is trusted friend-brother without any expectation. Whose greatness is undisputed, is benevolent and auspicious Who is refuge for sainst, virtuous who fear world, being cautious Who is placed in eternal bliss, breaking transmigrating ties. Such Mahaveer please reside in my eyes.
महावीराष्टकं स्तोत्रं भक्त्या 'भागेन्दुना' कृतम्।
यः पठेच्छृणुयाच्चापि स याति परमां गतिम्॥ Whoever reads and hears this Mahaveerastaka, Composed by devotee Bhagchadra "Bhagendu" Surely gets body-form of salvation May he be a Jain, Muslim or Hindu. This English translation is done by Jain, P.C. For the benefit of devouts, whether in land, air or in sea.
