________________ 24 the ways of Moksha--the final liberation. Understand ye, (therefore), your preceptor's thoughts and words and in word express thy assent and execute them in deed.' The Jain theory of Karma shows fourteen stages for a being, climbing through which one can reach Nirvana. These stages are known as GUNTHANAS and when a person passes the last stage that is fourteenth Gunthana one 1s supposed to have freed oneself of all the Karmas and at. tained Nirvana, this is the SUMMUM BONUM, the end and aim of philosophy la conclusion one can say with forma conviction that the Jarn theory of Karma is the one which is the most scientific and complete, and is quite distinct and independent from all others, and that the Jain philosophy 18 an onginal system of its own that is not derived from any other branch of thought. The arguments presented in this philosophy for the investigation of trath and logic are of very old character and appears to be entirely disconnected with any other doctrine. That is the reason more, why I assert that all should stady this philosophy and faith which is of great importance for the salvation of one's soul.
