________________ PREFACE [VI The emancipation of mankind from the miseries that human flesh is heir to is possible of achievement only by positive action on the part of these who cherish the thoughts embodied in the following stanza which is constantly recited at all Jain congregations and on all important occasions : "सर्वेऽपि सन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः। सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिदुःखमाप्नुयात् ॥" May all be happy; may all be healthy; may all realize good ; let no one be miserable. In conclusion, I must not forget to convey my sincere thanks to my learned colleage, Dr. A. S. Gopani, Professor, Singhi Jain Shastra Shikshapith of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, for the trouble he has taken in correcting proofs and preparing the index and seeing this book through the press.
