________________ 46 S. B. DEO the minimum one. Each of these three categories is further divided into 'utkṛṣṭa', 'madhyama' and 'jaghanya'. These are further subdivided each into three kinds such as utkṛṣṭa-utkṛṣṭa, utkṛṣṭa,-madhyama and utkṛṣṭa-jaghanya; utkṛṣṭa-madhyama, madhyama-madhyama and jaghanyamadhyama; and lastly utkṛṣṭa-jaghanya, madhyamajaghanya and jaghanya-jaghanya. This can further be grouped and re-grouped. The 'guru', 'lahu' and 'lahusa' are further divided into guru, gurutara, ahaguru; lahu, lahutara, ahalahu; and lahusa, lahusatara, ahālahusa. Now this division is fastened to a standard 'masa' of thirty days and also to the fasts of various durations. Thus ultimately we have the following variations: lahutara ahalahu Guru-māsa Gurutara-māsa Ahaguru-māsa Lahu-māsa Lahutara-māsa Ahalahu-māsa. Lahusa-masa Lahusatara-māsa Ahabahusa-māsa fasts. Guruga gurugatara ahaguru Lahu Lahusa bahusatara 15 days 10 days 5 days This duration is coupled with the following types of Jain Education International ―― aṭṭhamia dasama bārasama cauttha cauttha ayambila one month 4-3 months 5-6 months ― 30 days 25 days 20 days ---- } egāsana day. purimaḍdha half day's fast.
