________________ * [जैनसिद्धान्तडॉ. हर्मन जेकोबी के उद्गार हैं किः " Had there not been Jaina books belonging to the Prakrita literature, we should not be able now to form an idea of what Prakrita literature was, which once was the rival of Sanskrita literature and certainly more popular than Sanskrita literature......We are much indebted to the Jainas for all the glimpses we get of the popular _Prakrita literature." संस्कृत में व्याकरण, काव्य, साहित्य, अलंकार, न्याय, वैद्यक, ज्योतिष और धार्मिक एवं दार्शनिक वगैरह अनेक विषयों की साहित्य-समृद्धि बड़े ही विस्तृत प्रमाण में है / जर्मन डॉ. हर्टल का कहना है कि: "Now what would Sanskrita poetry be without the large Sanskrita literature of the Jain as I The more I learn to know it, the more my admiration rises." अर्थात्-जैनों के महान् संस्कृत-साहित्य . के विना संस्कृतकविता क्या रहेगी ? इस विषय में मुझे ज्यों ज्यों अधिक जानने का मिलता है, त्यों त्यों मेरा साश्चर्य आनन्द बढ़ता जाता है / संस्कृत-प्राकृत सिवाय गुजराती, हिन्दी और तामिल आदि भाषाओं में भी पुष्कल जैनसाहित्य है। डॉ० हर्टल साहब कहते हैं: __" They ( Jainas) are the creators of very extensive popular literature." अर्थात्- जैन बहुत विशाल लोक-भोग्य साहित्य के स्रष्टा हैं / पाटण, जेसलमेर, खंभात और बरोडा आदि स्थलों के जैन ग्रन्थ-भंडार अब भी विपुल साहित्य-लक्ष्मी से. भरे पड़े हैं।
