Sri Gunabhadrācărya in his “Uttarapurāņa", and Bhāvadevasūri in his " Pārsvacarit" also, describe this story and mention Podanapura as Paudana and Potana respectively.3" Kavi Dhanapala in his “ Bhavisayattakaha" also, mentions Podanapura. As the king of Kuru country refused to give his daughter in marriage to the King of Podanapura, the latter attacked him and a battle was fought. The allies of Kurus were Pancāla, Maccha and Kacchavas (Pancala-maccha-Kacchehivohi). The allies of the oppo site king of Podanapura were Sindhupati, Lambakaņņa and a few others, 3 In the "Uttarapuraņa" of Guņabhadrâcārya Podanapura has been described again and again as the capital of Suramya country which was situated in the southern part of Bharat or Bhāratavarşa.* Besides Pārsvanātha, as we have already seen, Podanapura has been connected there with the stories of Nārāyaṇa Triprasta and various other kings. One of the kings of Podanapura by name Pirañachandra had for his queen the princess of the king of Sāketa.' Another king of Podanapura was Vasusena, whose queen Nandā being a beautiful lady was taken away treachorously by his friend Canda, the king of Malaya.. In the Rámāyaṇa period the king of Podanapura was Traņapingala," while in the times of Mahabharata one Indravarmā ruled there, who was a descendant of Vahubali.
