After nine caror sāgropamas since Puş. padanta got liberated, Sitalanatha, the tenth Tirthankara, born at Bhadrapura. His father was king Dradaratha and the name of his mother was Sunandā.
After enjoying a peaceful worldly life, Śitalanātha renounced the world and set himself to observe severe penances and austerities as a naked Sramaņa. As a saint, he took his first meal at the house of king Punarvasu of Aristapura.
At the end of three years, Šitalanatha destroyed the four ghātiya-karmas and became an omniscient teacher.
Sitalanātha having preached the Dharma at large came to mount Sammed Sikhara and attained Nirvana from there.
King Megharatha of Bhaddalpur in the | Malayadesa accepted the doctrines of Brāhmana Maundaśālayana and started to give gifts of gold, elephant, horse etc. Hence forward the Brāhmaṇas became hostile to Jainism.
