Atheists reasoned that the belief in the theory of rebirth makes one foresake what he has seen by wandering in the maze created by the flights of imagmation about the unseen and that such a foresalong is his greatest folly. They emphasised that an intelligent man should by fair means or foul, achieve the enjoyments and joys of ufe which are imminent and tangible What is imperceptible and not imminent is atleast doubtful if not totally non-existent. The above was rebutted by the Theisists thus Even if we leave aside the philosophic examination of materialism and test it only from the point of view of practical life, we find that materialism is highly reproachable because it does not recognise sin—vice there is no, place for fear of sin. But in the absence of a fear of sin man becomes engaged in violence, falsehood, huprocracy and such other foul means and immoral activities etc in order to attain worldly happiness. Not to talk of the world hereafter but he even disturbs the social life of this world and to that extent atleast materialism is undesirable.
