There is no other explanation possible than the assumption to see in the name not the suburb, but a certain part of the town Campa. In Aupapātika Sutra § 38, for instance, Mahavira stays not in the town Campa but bähhim; the meaning of Prsthicampa seems to be something like 'High-Campa' or the 'Acropolis of Campa'.
