________________ Southeast Surendra Shah, Regional Editor Tampa, Florida An impressive bhoomi poojan ceremony was performed on July 3, 1998 on a newly acquired land located close to India Culture Center and Hindu Temple at Tampa, Florida. The land was generously donated by Philonthropist couple Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel of Tampa, Florida. A special message greeting this occasion was received from Dr. Dhiraj Shah, President of JAINA. An eminent and celebrated Jain Scholar Shri Chimanbhai T. Modi from India conducted the elaborate ceremony in a very dignified way. All committee members, office bearers and members of the community with their families participated actively in the pooja and this most joyous occasion. After theceremony, Swamivatsalya was sponsored by the Jain Society of Tampa Bay. Mr. Chetan Shah, President of the Society thanked all participants and the members of the committee for their dedication. Special thanks were conveyed to Drs.Kiran and Pallavi Patel. Tampa community members at the ground-breaking ceremony on July 3, 1998. Besides temple, the Jain Center will consist of Prayer Hall, Pathshala, Library, Dining hall and visitors room. Dr. Dipak Shah has agreed to head the entire temple project which is planned to be completed by the year 2000. Shah at 813/376-7290. weekend shibir is planned during the weekend following the Paryushana Parva. Panch Kalyanak Puja was performed on August 22 and Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated the following day. Clarksville, Tennessee The Jain Samaj has planned an active program for Paryushana Parva. The Kalpasutra will be read and the tapes of Muni Shri Jinchandraji will be played. Swamivatsalya and Tapasvi recognition is planned on Sunday, August 30. Shramans Shri Shrut Pragna and Shri Aswani Pragna will visit September 11-13 and will give Vyakhyans. Miami, Florida At Jain Center of South Florida Paryushana Parva will be celebrated in the presence of Samani Melli Pragya and Samani Pratibha Pragya. Dr. Bharill visited the center and presented discourses on selected stanzas from Samaysar and Navakar man tra. Jersey and JAINA organization also helped in many different ways. Local Organizations including Swaminarayan Satsang Mandal of BAPS, Hindu Temple of Canton, Gujarati Samaj of Detroit and Charotar Patidar Samaj also helped for the common religious and community cause. Last but not the least, the Jain society of Greater Detroit is grateful to everyone for their support and wishes to offer Micchami Dukkadam if anyone's feeling was hurt during the event. Atlanta, Georgia During the month of July, Kiranbhai Parekh and Taralaben Doshi visited the center. The Paryushana Parva is being celebrated in the presence of Shramans Shri Shrut Pragna and Shri Aswani Pragna. The Cary, North Carolina The Jain Study Center of North Carolina, in cooperation with the federation of JAINA, will conduct a workshop for Pathshala teachers and other interested adults. The workshop will be conducted over the Thanksgiving holidays, November 26 through November 29. More details are on page 22 of this issue.
